SDG 2: ZERO HUNGER PROGRAMMES
Welcome back to my blog. Today i would like to write about my experienced again on attending an event that related with SDG number 2 which is Zero Hunger. It was a peaceful morning as i received a message from friend about a campaign about the Zero Hunger campaign. He asked me if i interested on it or not. I take few times and set my decision on it and i finally voluntarily to joined. The next few days, my friend came to my home and took me to the place where the event held. There a lot of peoples gathered with multiple backgrounds. This event openly to any kind of ages. I feel a bit excited when i saw them. As we walked to the registration counter, the staff gave us a warm smile and greet us kindly. Her name was Aliya, the person in charge for the participants registration. She explained to us about this event and gave us a vest as a sign for joined this event. After that, all the participants including us, sits and heard about the tentative about this event.
Basically, we have been divided into groups and each group will be sent to a particular place around the town. “We’re not just handing out food,” one of the coordinators explained, “we’re showing people that they’re seen and valued.” That sentiment stuck with me as I helped my groupmates to load box of foods into the van that would serve as our mobile distribution unit. Without wasting anytime, we go straight to our checkpoint. My group has been sent to an alley behind Aeon mall. That place has been a placed for homeless sleep. I felt a bit pity for them and also grateful as my parents fulfill my needs for my life. We started to take the boxes out and set up a table for them to take the food. When they saw us, their faces full of happy smile and came to us. I felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness as I handed the first box to an elderly man named Ali. He gave me a warm smile and said, “may Allah repay you for doing this.” His gratitude was humbling and reminded me why campaigns like this are so vital. From his words, i felt more eager and excited to doing these of things to the people who need the most.
Time passed as we finally reached our last box around 10 a.m. I sighed relieved after this job done. After that, we started to packed our things and closed the table back. Before we left, we had a time to chat with them. After the event done, i with my friend going home.
As i laying on my bed, i thought back about the event. I felt an overwhelming sense of fulfillment. It wasn’t just about feeding people, but it was about creating moments of humanity and connection. This campaign was a microcosm of what SDG 2 aims to achieve: ensuring that no one is left hungry, no matter their circumstances. It showed me that while global hunger might seem like an insurmountable problem, change starts with small actions.
That night, as I reflected on the day, I resolved to do more. I planned to volunteer regularly, raise awareness about local hunger issues, and support policies aimed at food security. The campaign was a powerful reminder about hunger is not just a global issue but it is a local one, too. And while I can’t change the world overnight, I can make a difference one meal at a time. That was a wonderful experienced i have.
