SDG 15
Hi, my name is
Muhammad Haziq and I am from section 502. I write this blog obviously want to talk
about my experience that related with Sustainable Development Goals 15. SDG 15’s
goal is to protect nature in this world. This SDG 15 is important because it
leads to the peaceful ecosystem in this world. One of my experiences is that I joined
a community in my neighborhood on 22 April 2023. They are making a campaign
about earth day in the city. I was eager to join at first but had slight doubt about
it since it was my first time participating in it. I told my mom about this,
and she just said, "Go ahead". She was also eager for me to join the
campaign and experienced it myself. In my life, I have never tried planting any
kind of plants alone. I always watched my parents do it when I was a kid. In
the night before the event, I do some research about the Earth Day. I've heard
that before but never intended to participate in it. I watched videos of tutorials
about 'How to plant a flower' and so on. I also did some research on the types
of trees that thrive in our local environment and how they contribute to
biodiversity. Easy to be said that i searched anything that related about
planting. After doing all that, I slept excitedly.
The next day, I woke up at 6:15 a.m. and got ready for the events. I arrived at the event around 7:50, my house is near the city. I felt so nervous as I approached the QM, I signed myself and got a special vest that marked me as one of the participants. The QM gathered us on one roof and gave a brief. He briefed about the flow of the event and explained everything about plants. After the briefing session, they provided us with the equipment and tools. We arrived at the checkpoint and started planting. As I dug the soil and gently placed the sapling into its new home, I realized how fragile, yet resilient nature can be. I felt amazed by it and a bit proud about it. When I made mistakes, people always helped and taught me. I learned that these small efforts had a big impact on the ecosystem. When I saw the plants on the side road, it felt calm and refreshing. From that I understood the main purpose of the SDG 15.
After the event finished, I went home back. I felt tired but satisfied with my small action. One insight stuck me is sustainable changes starts with awareness and small steps. I also valued the teamwork and shared passion of the group the most. It reminded me that achieving SDG 15 is not a solitary journey but a shared responsibility. I’ve learned that while planting trees is a tangible action, it’s equally important to educate others on sustainability.
